Wear Your Jewelry!
As part of my ongoing effort to feel less like a schlumpy mom and more like a hip, chic mom, I tried to actually wear the clothing I had in my closet this summer, rather than the same tired old t-shirts and shorts every day.
Now that school has started again, and I’m surrounded by moms who are effortlessly (or so it seems) hip and chic (not to mention young) I have to take it up another notch. So I’m wearing the jewelry – necklaces and bracelets – that usually sit untouched on my dresser month after month.
Just in case you get the wrong impression about my jewelry “collection”: one of the necklaces was a gift from my parents in 7th grade, and another I picked up for about $8 at a little gift shop. No safety deposit box here!
I had been thinking about this post when I came upon a similar post at Simple Mom. She is giving away a really sweet necklace; folks who comment, subscribe or post about her giveaway will be entered to win, so do check it out! Even if you don’t care about the giveaway, it’s a very nice site, and I agree with Simple Mom that wearing a little jewelry can lift your spirits – give it a try!

I go through fits and starts of wearing my jewelry. I always wear a ring. I LOVE rings and feel naked without one. But beyond that, I have to make a conscious effort to wear earrings, bracelets or necklaces. Hmmm….time to get back on the jewelry bandwagon.

I totally get it. I stopped buying new clothes every season, because I just don’t wear them. I always reach out for my trusted jeans and tank top.

@Panther Earring are a habit, but not the other stuff. Today I went to school in mom clothes, but hey, it’s Friday!
@Vered This year because of my new job I needed a few new things, which has been fun!

For jewelry I just wear a Cartier watch and earrings. I used to wear necklaces and bracelets, but I was always taking them off without even realizing that I was doing it.

The majority of my shirts are black, so my “dress up” is a colorful necklace from SuperHero Designs.

@Marelisa: I have a necklace that is scratchy or something and I find I want to take that one off. Time to consign it I think!
@Stacey: SuperHero designs sounds intriguing . . .
