Show & Tell: I Like to Watch
Every once in a while, my husband is on duty with Vintage Girl in the morning. It’s hard to describe the dance I do every day to get her out the door, but if there were one phrase that captured “herding cats”, “high-maintenance” and “drama queen” it might come close.
On those rare days when I’m not in charge, I get to watch the scene unfold. I know it’s unkind- silly and immature even! – but it’s amusing to watch someone else match wits with Vintage Girl in pursuit of getting to school or camp on time.
Sometimes I actually go to another part of the house where I can laugh in private. If I can’t control myself and laugh in front of dear Vintage Dad, he is not amused . . . I’m sure he hates me at that moment – which makes it even funnier, poor man!
I’m giggling a little bit right now, just thinking about it . . .
Head over to Mel’s place to see what the others are sharing this week.

Even with that pout on her face, she is adorable! And, I enjoy that kind of sick, twisted amusement too.

That is a great photo of your daughter! I have a similar one of the Little Guy – taken straight after he was told he wasn’t allowed to jump on his Pa. Herding cats is exactly the phrase we use too.
Heehee @ you for evil laughter.

I love that pout! I get a small thrill when my hubby does things I normally do too.

I know EXACTLY what you mean! When my husband was on duty when I was working it cracked me up when he’d try to feed Zilla something he hated.
Vintage Girl is BEAUTIFUL. I bet that pout exasperates you and makes you fall in love with her all over again all in the same moment.
*HUGS*

That photo of Vintage Girl is sooooooo great and perfectly captures a sense of peevishnes and frustration. You should sell it on istockphoto.com. I’m not kidding — it could make you some money for her college tuition some day. Ha!

Ok – I’m with Traci, but I was thinking more cover of Parenting magazine or something! Totally gorgeous angry…which might not bode well in 10 years or so, but for now – stunning!

Hello Everyone,
Thanks for reading and for your comments.
I neglected to explain that the photo is not Vintage Girl, but you can see pics of her in my “disclaimer” Show & Tell, post that I wrote today. Sorry for the confusion!

Heh. Your daughter sounds like my kind of kid. I can’t imagine that the fates would even consider delivering me an easy child after the drama I caused my parents!

My husband likes to tell me that our daughter only cries when I come home (he’s been staying home with her for a little more than a month now). Today, however, I think the tides have turned, because he called me at work to complain about how a) she just wouldn’t do anything he asked, b) she wouldn’t make up her mind about anything, and c) the internet was not working and his computer crashed. I laughed and said, “Welcome to my world, buddy.”
